Cisco 2960 Configuration Steps

Hope You all are good, Here i am sharing one post related to basic switch configuration of Cisco 2960

 Cisco 2960 Configuration Steps

 

1.       1Connect a console cable and Power Chord to Swtich

2.       Open terminal 

3.       Set Console password on consol line 0

4.       Set enable password

5.       Set telnet password on line vty 0

6.       Set Hostname to a switch (identity purpose)

7.       Give IP address & Subnet to switch on Management Interface (Native Vlan ) By Default Vlan 1

8.       Define Default gateway

9.       By default all ports are trunk port

10.   If we want to pass multiple Vlan’s Traffic then we are configuing trunk port (Multiple Vlan Traffic) (As per requiremet)

11.    configure access port (As per Requirement)

12.   Exit Switch

 

For Configure Switch in Web based

 

1.       Connect switch to computer with RJ 45 cable and assign an ip address in ethernet  from default IP address  pool (except switch IP)

2.       Check ping of switch IP in cmd portal must switch is rechable.

3.       Open Web browser

4.       Open with default Ip address of switch 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.1.254

5.       Login with default user name cisco and password cisco

6.       Set new password for Login switch

7.       Set  services accordingly need ie. Telnet access , web access, ssh access etc.

8.       Give IP address to switch on Mangement tab in Ipv4 column on left handside tab

9.       Define default gateway

10.   Configure Vlans and assign to Ports according to requirement

Logout the switch from web
